At Calaveras County Public Health, our mission is to improve the health and well-being of everyone in Calaveras County.

Who We Are
CCPH is part of the Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA). Our dedicated team of public health professionals includes public health nurses, health educators, community engagement coordinators, epidemiologists, and administrative staff.
Our Structure

Each unit plays a crucial role in addressing the diverse health needs of our county's population.
What We Do
Our services and programs cover a wide range of public health areas:
Family Health Unit
- California Children's Services (CCS): We provide specialized medical care for children with certain health conditions.
- Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH): Our programs support the health of mothers, children, and teens, ensuring they have access to necessary care and resources.
- Medical Therapy Unit (MTU): We offer therapeutic services for children with specific medical conditions to improve their quality of life.
Healthy Communities Unit
- Injury and Violence Prevention: Our initiatives aim to reduce injuries and violence in the community through education and prevention strategies.
- Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention: We provide resources and programs to promote healthy eating habits and active lifestyles.
- Oral Health: We work to improve oral health outcomes through education and preventive services.
- Substance Use Prevention Education: Our programs aim to prevent substance abuse and provide resources for those affected.
- Tobacco Prevention: We implement strategies to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke in our community.
Epidemiology and Informatics (E&I) Unit

- Medical Marijuana Identification: We manage the medical marijuana identification card program for the county.
Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Unit
- Communicable Disease Prevention: We work to prevent the spread of infectious diseases through surveillance, investigation, and education.
- Healthcare Acquired Infection Prevention: Our programs aim to reduce infections acquired in healthcare settings.
- HIV/AIDS Prevention: We provide education, testing, and support services related to HIV/AIDS.
- Immunizations: We offer vaccinations to protect against preventable diseases and manage immunization records.
Health Response and Preparedness Unit
- Emergency Preparedness: We plan and prepare for public health emergencies to keep our community safe.
- Pandemic Flu: We have specific strategies in place to respond to potential flu pandemics.
- Hospital Preparedness: We work with local healthcare facilities to ensure readiness for public health emergencies.
Operations and Planning Unit
- Accreditation: We maintain our accreditation status to ensure we meet national public health standards.
- Administrative Services: Our team manages the day-to-day operations of CCPH.
