Who We Are
We're part of the Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA). Our team includes nurses, health educators, community workers, disease experts, and office staff.
What We Do
Family Health Unit
- California Children's Services (CCS): Helps children with special health needs get medical care.
- Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health (MCAH): Supports the health of mothers and children.
- Medical Therapy Unit (MTU): Provides therapy for kids who need it.
Healthy Communities Unit
- Injury and Violence Prevention: Works to prevent injuries and violence.
- Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention: Teaches about healthy eating and staying active.
- Oral Health: Helps people take care of their teeth.
- Substance Use Prevention Education: Teaches about drug and alcohol prevention.
- Tobacco Prevention: Works to reduce smoking and vaping.
Epidemiology and Informatics Unit
Epidemiology and Informatics is our disease tracking and data team.

Community Health Assessment and Improvement: Studies health issues in our county.
- Epidemiology: Tracks diseases to spot trends.
- Informatics: Uses technology to improve health services.
- Medical Marijuana Identification: Issues and manages medical marijuana ID cards.
Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Unit
- Communicable Disease Prevention: Prevents the spread of diseases.
- Healthcare Acquired Infection Prevention: Works to reduce infections in hospitals.
- HIV/AIDS Prevention: Provides HIV/AIDS education and testing.
- Immunizations: Gives vaccines to prevent diseases.
Health Response and Preparedness Unit
- Emergency Preparedness: Plans for health emergencies.
- Pandemic Flu: Gets ready for flu outbreaks.
- Hospital Preparedness: Works with local hospitals on emergency plans.
Operations and Planning Unit
- Administrative Services: Runs our daily office work.
- Policy and Planning: Creates rules to keep our community healthy.
- Professional Development: Helps our staff in learning and staying up-to-date in the public health field.
Cross-Cutting Initiatives
- Health Equity: Making sure everyone has fair access to healthcare.
- Community Engagement: Getting the community involved in health projects using events, surveys, and partnerships.
- Data Sharing and Transparency: Sharing health information with the public.
- Mobile Health Services: Bringing healthcare to people who can't easily reach it.
